EU 2030’s Power Reduction Progress

EU states’ obligatory National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) outline countries’ roadmaps to increase renewable energy and reduce power and GHG emissions. EU has achieved a 5.8pc reduction in energy consumption of the 2030 total of 11.7pc. An average reduction of 26pc in road transport energy consumption has been fulfilled out of the 2030’s 29pc.

Some EU states, namely, Luxembourg, Spain, Slovenia and Sweden, are predicted to meet their non-ETS targets concerning GHG emission reductions. France and Sweden are aiming for higher targets (14.6pc and 70pc respectively) to reduce GHG emissions in the transport sector by 2030. The share of renewable energy has averaged an increased that is slightly higher than the target set by the revised renewable directive (REDIII).
