The week from June 1st to 5th, 2026, saw the EUA DEC26 contract gradually lose ground following the strong recovery recorded at the end of May. Prices entered a corrective phase, retreating from levels above €80.00/t to close the week below €77.00/t, marking a weekly decline of approximately 4.6%.
After an initial attempt to hold above the €80.00/t threshold, capped by Monday’s weekly high of €80.57/t, selling pressure steadily intensified. The middle sessions of the week highlighted a deterioration in the technical outlook, culminating on Thursday with a weekly low of €76.85/t, accompanied by higher trading volumes, a clear sign of increased selling activity.
On Friday, the market showed greater stability, but the rebound remained limited and insufficient to lift prices back above the key technical levels lost earlier in the week.
From a technical perspective, the break below the psychological €80.00/t support weakened the bullish momentum that had been building over the previous weeks. The €76.00–77.00/t range now represents the first key support area in the short term, while a sustained move back above €79.00–80.00/t will be necessary to restore a more constructive technical outlook.
The week from 8th to 12th June 2026 saw the EUA DEC26 market in a phase of stabilisation, following the consolidation observed at the beginning of the month. The week closed broadly unchanged, with the EUA DEC26 posting a modest gain of 0,3%.
Prices moved within a relatively narrow range, trading mostly between €76,00/ton and €78,00/ton, amid moderate volatility. After a stable start, the market showed temporary weakness during Tuesday’s session, with prices retreating toward €75,70/ton. However, the rebound observed on Wednesday quickly pushed quotations back toward the upper end of the weekly range, reaching a weekly high of €77,98/ton, signalling renewed buying interest at lower levels.
During the second half of the week, the contract consolidated the levels achieved but failed to break convincingly above the €78,00/ton threshold. Trading volumes remained relatively consistent throughout the week, suggesting a market still waiting for new directional drivers.
Overall, the technical picture remains neutral to moderately constructive: holding above €76,00/ton continues to signal resilience, while a sustained move above the €78,00–79,00/ton range would be necessary to reactivate more convincing bullish short-term momentum.
The week from 15th to 19th June 2026 highlighted a marked strengthening of the EUA DEC26 contract, which managed to move back and consolidate above the psychological threshold of €80,00/ton, a level not seen since the first half of January. Over the period under review, the contract posted a significant gain of +4,42% compared to Friday, 12th June.
Following an exceptionally strong opening session on Monday 15th June, during which prices advanced by more than €2,80/ton and reached a high of €80,11/ton, the market subsequently consolidated the gains achieved. The middle sessions of the week were characterised by more contained price movements and moderate volatility, with prices consistently trading within the €79,00–81,00/ton range. Friday’s close at €80,58/ton, near the weekly highs, suggests that the market absorbed the profit-taking that emerged after the initial rally without significant difficulty.
Overall, the technical outlook appears to be improving: holding above €80,00/ton constitutes a constructive signal for the short term. A break above the key technical and psychological resistance area around €81,00/ton could pave the way for further bullish extensions in the coming weeks.
The week of 22nd–26th June 2026 saw the EUA DEC26 contract enter a consolidation phase following the recovery recorded over the previous weeks. The week opened with a new period high of €81,92/t, while Tuesday’s session saw the market reach the weekly high at €82,28/t, although it failed to establish itself above the €82,00/t threshold. As of yesterday, the period under review closed 2,23% lower compared with Friday, 19th June.
Following the strong start to the week, prices gradually lost momentum, trading within a relatively narrow range around €80,50/t. Volatility remained contained, and trading volumes stayed broadly in line with recent averages, suggesting a market balanced between profit-taking and fresh buying interest.
Yesterday’s session, Monday, 29th June, broke this equilibrium, with a sharp correction that pushed the front-year contract down to around €78,80/t. The move resulted in a break below the key psychological support at €80,00/t, intensifying short-term bearish pressure.
From a technical perspective, the medium-term outlook remains constructive, but the decline at the start of this week points to a loss of momentum following June’s rally. Attention now turns to the €78,00–78,50/t support area: holding above this range could pave the way for a swift recovery towards €80,00/t. At the same time, a decisive break below it would open the door to a deeper correction towards lower support levels.
